Due to migration of workers to the nearby towns and cities, there are several houses in Krishnagiri and surrounding villages which have one or two old men and women, who are helpless, and have to fend for themselves. PAT has been running aa Senior Citizens Home to give shelter for such destitute and needy elders in Katttiganapalli villages of Krishnagiri Taluk of Krishnagiri District, with a capacity to take care 25 senior citizens at a time. These members are offered all the basic essentials in life – like a safe and secure shelter, good food, clean clothings, etc. Besides, for their pastime, some facilities for recreation – like a common TV, newspapers, indoor games like carom and chess are also provided. There is a small open area with some greeneries outside, where the elders can take their morning and evening walks. Th elders help in watering and maintaining the garden. Thus living becomes a joy, and not a burden, for these seniors, who also get periodical medical check-up by a qualified doctor. In case of major sickness, the patient is referred to the nearby Govt. hospital.
We are also assisting the needy 25 elders of both gender at Chettttiyappanur of Vaniyambadi taluk of Tirupathur District rendering the shelter care and nutrition feeding alongwith recreation for peaceful 4 aging for those elders deserted by their family members. The more active women give a helping hand in the kitchen. Free medicines are provided for common age-related problems like high BP, diabetes, etc. Besides the routine activities, the able bodied elders are also taken out to temples, or other places of tourist attraction within the close vicinity. The school children from neighbouring location also visiting and interacting with elders and performing cultural activities and creating bond between elders and children. Considering the needy services for elders, the local people also exuding their able support and cooperation
